Reading distinguishes man from other creatures.

It shows man how to conduct the life of a true human being.

It enables man to live usefully.

It teaches man how to make progress.

In sum, through Internet today, it leads man to discovering the mysteries of all worlds and to pass down ways to building a higher and higher civilization in generations to come.

As for making reading to be really useful, we also need to learn lots of things concerning selection of materials, goals and applications in various stages of personal and social life.

This is the Age of human matturity, so it is urgently needed for children to be taught about the art and the use of reading. Our new culture is the culture of reading.

Baha’u’llah says:

“They whose sight is keen, whose ears are retentive, whose hearts are enlightened, and whose breasts are dilated, recognize both truth and falsehood, and distinguish the one from the other. Recite thou this prayer that hath flowed from the tongue of this Wronged One, and ponder thereon with a heart rid of all attachment, and with ears that are pure and sanctified, be attentive to its meaning, that haply thou mayest inhale the breath of detachment and have pity upon thyself and upon others.”….
