It is not wrong for wanting to be liked or loved.
This is the natural tendency of all human beings. We want to hear sweet words of encouragement, of understanding, of appreciation. This natural and healthy desire causes us to show love and respect to other people.
However, each individual has different ways to express himself, to accept friendship, to associate with other people in various cultures and traditions. Hence, in society we often face undesirable misunderstandings.
It would be best that a person believes this fact with certainty and applies it patiently and tolerantly in his life. Finally, friendship, cooperation, unity … will be developed, and more and more people will become happy.
True love is foundation and purpose of all existence.

 Baha’u’llah says:

“O ye beloved of the Lord! Commit not that which defileth the limpid stream of love or destroyeth the sweet fragrance of friendship. By the righteousness of the Lord! Ye were created to show love one to another and not perversity and rancour. Take pride not in love for yourselves but in love for your fellow-creatures. Glory not in love for your country, but in love for all mankind.”
