How many Countries have the World ?

The earth is only one country, but it was blindly and unjustly torn into pieces in our Age of immaturity. Why there are countries like China and others like Tuvalu? And I don’t know into how many pieces that Yougoslavia has been broken? And how many will be made into another Soviet Union?
No Books of God or of men have told precisely how many countries should be made and how large be their sizes. But all great educators, from Socrates to Christ, consider the world as only one country. And I think it is most reasonable to the mature mind to accept the Oneness of God, Oneness of Religion and Oneness of Mankind. Geographical frondiers will not be considered as walls of separation among nations, but only as flexible provincial lines for convenient governance.
Good negotiations about world unity will save us from ridiculous blights of the past.
I place high hope on the UN and its maturing in the near future.

Baha’u’llah says:

That one indeed is a man who, today, dedicateth himself to the service of the entire human race. The Great Being saith: Blessed and happy is he that ariseth to promote the best interests of the peoples and kindreds of the earth. In another passage He hath proclaimed: It is not for him to pride himself who loveth his own country, but rather for him who loveth the whole world. The earth is but one country, and mankind its citizens.

(Baha’u’llah, Gleanings from the Writings of Baha’u’llah, p. 249)
