What would be worse torture? Slow starvation? Or having to listen to Miley Cyrus sing until death?

Conscious disobedience to God.
God forbids man to tell lies.
People who don’t know this law may tell lies without bad feelings, due to lack of knowledge about the danger of spiritual death.
People who know this law and telling lies unsconsciously may feel bad.
People who know this law and telling lies consciously, they suffer the worst torture. And their inner peace will only be reinstated with sincere repentance. The result is the same with disobedience to God in other things.
This is how religion restores peace on earth. When a sufficient number of individuals enjoy the happiness in obedience to God, at the level of sacrifice with love, they will become supporting force for builders of divine civilization on earth.
This is the mysterious and omnipotent decree of God.

Abdul-Baha says:

Praise thou God that in tests thou art firm and steadfast and art holding fast to the Abha Kingdom. Thou art not shaken by any affliction or disturbed by any calamity. Not until man is tried doth the pure gold distinctly separate from the dross. Torment is the fire of test wherein the pure gold shineth resplendently and the impurity is burned and blackened. At present thou art, praise be to God, firm and steadfast in tests and trials and art not shaken by them.
