BUDDHISM – WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Buddhism – what do you think?

Asked by ifilayhere 31-35, F

It is really hard to give opinions about a religion.

Billions of people are believing in millions of religions, and perhaps none of us can tell mankind what exactly is our religion. I have claimed to be Buddhist and served younger people in the Buddhist community for a number of years. But I really did not know Who the Buddha was until when I believe in Baha’u’llah, the Founder of the Baha’i Faith. Through His written Holy Books, I am tracing back the Path of the Lord Buddha. Buddha had taught eighty four thousands subjects, but I did not know what they are, including the five most simple laws: Not to drink alcohol, not to tell lie, not to steal, not to kill, not to indulge in lust. And I really don’t know how many Buddhists were ignorant and disobedient like me.
Now I find in the Baha’i Books that Judaism, Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Buddhism, Christianity, Islam… are all the divine religions founded by the Messengers of God, Who are in fact, the Holy Spirit manifesting Himself from Age to Age to educate mankind.
I see that this belief may cause harmony among all religions, so I keep on learning and practicing based on authentic Holy Books. Although this is universal education, but my learning and practice is personal. This guides me in this life of happiness for already four generations, so I keep on learning and sharing experiences with friends up here for greater unity.
At present, I interest in consulting peacefully with any people about God and these divine religions. And I do not see any other better ways.

Abdul-Baha says:

God sends Prophets for the education of the people and the progress of mankind. Each such Manifestation of God has raised humanity. They serve the whole world by the bounty of God. The sure proof that they are the Manifestations of God is in the education and progress of the people. The Jews were in the lowest condition of ignorance, and captives under Pharaoh when Moses appeared and raised them to a high state of civilization. Thus was the reign of Solomon brought about and science and art were made known to mankind. Even Greek philosophers became students of Solomon’s teaching. Thus was Moses proved to be a Prophet.

HOW EXPLAINING SOMETHING UNEXPLAINABLE?

How do you explain something unexplainable?

Asked by zoiera 26-30, F

 Reply By Me

I use example. For example, no one can explain about the existence of God. I believe in God and I used a number explanations for others to meditate on.

God is like the sun. Blind people cannot see, but they can feel the heat.
God is like the sun, the sun does not come down to earth, but it reflects fully in a well polished mirror.
God is like the Potter. As a pot I cannot know my spiritual Potter, because all miraculous things in my body, mind and soul, cannot come from nowhere.
The more I live, the more I learn, I find many examples telling me that it is unexplainable to believe that physical elements existed before Big Bang, were from some unintelligent source
I think it is convincing to believe that the virtual world is the product of the intelligent man, and man from the Intelligent God.
All Prohets use parables for explaining all things (tangible and intangible, visible and invisible, known and not known yet to human beings).

Abdul-Baha says:

“Divine things are too deep to be expressed by common words. The heavenly teachings are expressed in parable in order to be understood and preserved for ages to come. When the spiritually minded dive deeply into the ocean of their meaning they bring to the surface the pearls of their inner significance. There is no greater pleasure than to study God’s Word with a spiritual mind.”

WHAT ARE YOU THINKING NOW?

I think that today is better for me and for the world.

I want to share concrete examples to people who are unaware or who think otherwise. The reason is that this thinking is true and brings hope to other people.
New discoveries, new technologies, new applications are made here and there on earth.
New data are supplied abundantly on Internet.
New visions open farther horizons in time and space.
All these things cause learning men to be more encouraged, more hopeful and more active in launching new projects for the betterment of this world.
I also see that this century is better than the last one, and the next centuries will be marvelously progressive due to high interactivity on Internet.
Another asker has made query about Progressive Revelation, and I share to her the good link on Wikipedia.
In sum, this is a greater Day than all former days.

Baha’u’llah says:

Erelong shall the faithful behold, in the day of the latter Resurrection, Him Whom God shall make manifest descending with this city from the heaven of the Unseen, together with a company of His exalted and favoured angels. Great, therefore, is the blessedness of him that attaineth unto His presence and beholdeth His countenance. We all, verily, cherish this hope, and exclaim: “Praise be unto Him, for verily He is the Eternal Truth, and unto Him do we return!”

“5. O SON OF BEING! Love Me, that I may love thee. If thou lovest Me not, My love can in no wise reach thee. Know this, O servant.”

(Baha’u’llah, The Arabic Hidden Words)

When we love air, water, light… we earn all their physical benefits.
When we love our parents, our friends, we earn all human benefits.
When we love God, we earn all divine benefits.
The more we learn to know about love and practice it, the more we will attain the happy summit of self-realization.
I am posting many favorite quotes like this up here, on the wonderful Internet.

Baha’u’llah also says:

This is that which hath descended from the realm of glory, uttered by the tongue of power and might, and revealed unto the Prophets of old. We have taken the inner essence thereof and clothed it in the garment of brevity, as a token of grace unto the righteous, that they may stand faithful unto the Covenant of God, may fulfill in their lives His trust, and in the realm of spirit obtain the gem of Divine virtue.

HOW CAN YOU FIND SELF-CONFIDENCE?

How can you find confidence in yourself?

Asked By IvyRed15 16-17, F

 Reply By Me

I must learn to know my powers as a human being.

Each and all human beings have five powerful physical senses and five marvelous spiritual senses. When I have this clear knowledge, I will confidently go through life as a unique personality among other diverse but equal individuals. They can be happy as farmers, singers, physicians; I can be happy as a servant of the human race.
I learn anything I lke, I can understand and apply for a richer, healthier and more useful life. This I have done in previous decades and I will continue in years to come, and according to my belief, to all eternity. By learning, I may get wrong lessons, but I can make modifications too. Otherwise, I will stagnantly remain in ignorance, confusion, and hence, in unhappiness.
All animals are instinctly confident. All human beings can be consciously confident by greater and greater knowledge through education.
If we were deprived of schooling by unfavorable conditions in the past, we must start learning right now. Learning is our sole way to confidence.

Abdul-Baha says:

Partaking of knowledge and education is one of the requisites of religion. The education of each child is obligatory. If there are no parents, the community must look after the child. It is suggested that the childless educate a child.

WHERE IS THE BEST PLACE TO LIVE ?

Where is the best place to live ?

Why?

 Asked By stickgirl 36-40, F

 Reply By Me

Here, in the love of God. Because where there is the love of God, that place is paradise.

Where is the love of God? It is in our heart.

Why I don’t see it? Because our physical heart cannot contain paradise; it is in our spiritual heart.
Where is our spiritual heart? It is in our mind, which can be perceived only by spiritual sight. This sight can be made keener and keener by divine education.
Where can I get divine education? Seek and you will find; knock and it will open.
Billions of people are living happily in this nearest paradise. This is in the power of all people.

IS THIS LIFE A TEST?

Is this life a test?

Religious interpretations or otherwise welcome. Do you think this life is a test? Based on our behavior towards others and our conduct? Or do you think nothing we do has any lasting consequence?

 Aked By JayLee2326-30, M

 Reply By Me

 Yes sublimely purposeful test.

It is not blind test of nature for the survival of the fiitest.
It is not arrogant test of an imaginary despot to prove the loyalty of his subjects.
It is training of the Commpassionate God for the development of potential powers in His beloved children.
Human beings are supreme creatures in the creation of God’s worlds. We need physical, human and divine education to develop our rational sense and to use it for fathoming His mysteries.
If all things are revealed, we would falsely claim to be equal to our Creator.
If all mysteries would finally be discoverd, we also falsely inflate with arrogance before God.
So, our learning will never end as God’s existence will never be fully understood. Our tests will become more and more difficult, and we will reach higher and higher summits of bliss.
We know this fact, because God establihes progressive Revelation for our guidance.

Baha’u’llah says:

And when this process of progressive Revelation culminated in the stage at which His peerless, His most sacred, and exalted Countenance was to be unveiled to men’s eyes, He chose to hide His own Self behind a thousand veils, lest profane and mortal eyes discover His glory. This He did at a time when the signs and tokens of a divinely-appointed Revelation were being showered upon Him — signs and tokens which none can reckon except the Lord, your God, the Lord of all worlds.
