Do you talk to yourself?
I do – but I try not to let anyone catching me doing it. I have been teased about it and asked “do you answer yourself too?” Well, if you talk to yourself, doesn’t it follow you should answer?)

I do so silently. In fact this is meditation.
I ask myself questions and I answer them. This is the same way I am doing with your question now. Where do I get ideas for this reply?
Baha’u’llah encourages meditation. He says one hour of meditation is more precious than seventy years of pious prayer.
All human beings are endowed with seeds of the names and attributes of God. The more we read Holy Books and meditate on the sacred verses, the more we will develop our spiritual life which is best in this life and especially in the life to come. In the the life of our mother’s womb, there is development of physical organs for this life. Now is the development of spiritual abilities for our life in the spiritual realm. And we do this by meditation, that is to ask and answer questions in our mind. The development will be strengthened with actions in love and sacrifice.
Blessed are people who practice meditation.

You cannot apply the name ‘man’ to any being void of this faculty of meditation; without it he would be a mere animal, lower than the beasts.
Through the faculty of meditation man attains to eternal life; through it he receives the breath of the Holy Spirit — the bestowal of the Spirit is given in reflection and meditation.
