Because English has become a world language. If you know ten other languages, you may still need a translator; but with fluent English you can go through all cities on earth as well as on Internet.
Nationalism is also a barrier for the popular use of any other language. Each nation is making great effort to promote its language and shows discrimination against others. English already escapes this barrier, because it is no longer the language of the British Kingdom. It is now the language of America, India, Australia, New Zealand, and of many new branches of learning.
Being an Asian, but I use more English than French (my major at school) or my national language. Most of jobs I have gone through also require the use of English. That is why I have told my children and grandchildren to master English. And I also encourage other people to do the same.
Let us have English as the world language. This will be an important step to world peace.

Abdul-Baha says:
“The differences in language cause disunion between nations. There must be one universal language. The diversity in Faiths is also a cause of separation. The true foundation of all faiths must be established, the outer differences abolished. There must be a Oneness of Faith. To end all these differences is a very hard task. The whole world is sick, and needs the power of the Great Healer.”
(Abdu’l-Baha, Abdu’l-Baha in London, p. 59)
We need world language
To reach God’s divine knowledge
And world unity
